As part of Make UK’s commitment to enhancing Apprentices & Skill training services for its members and the broader Manufacturing sector in the UK, we are looking for an experienced business development professional to support the expansion of our client base.

The Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in developing and delivering a Sales Plan to increase revenues from both new and existing clients in alignment with Make UK’s existing training facility and future growth plans.

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Work with the Apprentices and Skills Business Development Team to develop & implement the business sales and marketing plans
  • Develop sales plan to address local and national requirements in both commercial technical sales and apprenticeship – specifically concentrating on our virtual offering of Team Leader and Management Apprenticeships
  • Generate substantial sales growth with existing and new clients, main focus on technical training
  • Identify new potential markets, customers and opportunities and stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to identify growth opportunities
  • Liaise with other employees within the Make UK’s customer facing teams to identify effective new business opportunity identification and referral creating strong internal relationships
  • Utilise CRM systems and sales tools effectively to track progress, manage pipelines, and optimise sales performance
  • Achieve targets set within the business plan and report monthly on sales pipeline values and other associated KPI’s
  • Target prospect organisations and individuals through a variety of methods including: Cold calling and marketing activities, Creating marketing materials to be used through social media etc (use of marketing equipment available to support), Sales lead generation through phone, emails, virtual means and MAKE UK internal tours to point of order confirmation, The drafting and submission of proposals and tenders, Increase footfall through the centre using sales activity, Organising, promoting and delivering MAKE UK events to attract new and existing clients

About you

  • Proven sales professional with experience in a service/solutions based role
  • Sales and commercial skills to drive sales revenue
  • Ability to work and communicate at the highest level, to think strategically and deliver on objectives
