Make UK is the UK’s ambassador for manufacturing and engineering. We champion and support our members, providing them with the tools, training, and resources they need to thrive in today’s competitive market. Our flagship events, including the annual conference and awards programme, play a crucial role in showcasing innovation, excellence, and best practices within the industry.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Events Manager to lead the development and project management of Make UK’s flagship annual conference and awards programme, as well as other events as required to support key stakeholders across the Operations Directorate.

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate across the business unit to develop the strategy and programme for Make UK flagship events, including Awards, Conference, and others as needed.
  • Project manage the delivery of major events, ensuring timelines and budgets are managed effectively.
  • Manage cross-functional activity with internal stakeholder groups to generate and facilitate content that matters to member companies and manufacturing businesses.
  • Work with regional and national stakeholders to ensure successful promotion, delegate bookings, and awards programme entries.
  • Drive bookings and entry acquisition through various platforms, including marketing and direct outreach.
  • Continuously monitor the programme to ensure relevancy and success, and contribute to the creation of sponsorship value propositions.
  • Assess current and potential systems to efficiently deliver conference and event functions, both online and in-person.
  • Support conference and event exhibitions, including sales and income generation.
  • Database management for bookings, applications, sales, and reporting.
  • Prepare reports for management meetings and manage outsourced activities related to the programme.

About you

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or demonstrable experience in events/conference planning and management.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers and third-party providers.
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Office, and database management tools.
  • Proven experience managing projects for a national brand or organization, ideally membership-based.
